What graduation?

Well its official i just filed my intent to graduate. May 8, 2014 I will officially be a Troy University Alumni, the 3rd one in the family. This does not seem like it should be happening at all! Its crazy to think about, but i know that God has a great plan for me and ready or not its all about to happen! Prayers as I still continue to finish this last semester and then my internship!

Fall is coming!

Well this weekend I got to see some of fall with the leaves changing colors in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was the annual CO Fall Retreat Trip! It was such a needed trip for sure. This year was different from the past, because usually we are with other schools in the Birmingham region for  CO, but all the schools schedules couldn't work out so it was just Troy this time. We loaded up and headed out around 4pm. Making the trip a long one since it was at night, we arrived around 11:15 there time. Our car was some of the first to get there so we would check in then go to the cabin to unpack and then go back to hang out and wait for everyone else to arrive! Majority of the people were there by 12 so we all hung out and played some games till about 1:30am. We were all starting to get tired and I think it was a little after 2 we got into bed, knowing we would be up and at breakfast by 8. After breakfast we would start our first talk. The theme in all of them were about Satisfaction and where ours was. Talking about broken cisterns that we try to fill up with things that satisfy us and ultimately it never would. After that we would be in our groups, the first White Water Rafting group would leave while the rest of us were free to do whatever we wanted to do. Many of us would just go to the field and courts to play volleyball, basketball, football, some hung their eno's and then just chilled. It was a weekend just to rest and enjoy our community. So we would go to lunch and then the second group (my group) would make our way to rafting! It was a beautiful day for it! Myself and 4 Farmhouse guys would be in a raft together and it was a blast, we caught a few good spots that we would "ride" good and get soaked. One of the guides said that we had the best run of the week! We would finish the night with dinner and another talk and then a hangout session. We had the worst dance contest and birthday cake for 3 people that was on the trip and then also the tradition of the Gallon Challenge, this is nothing I wish on anyone. History was made with someone who completed it! What it is, everyone who does it has a gallon of milk and has an hour to drink or chug it and has to not throw any of it up within 5 minutes after completing it. Only one person made it to finish it and hold it down 5 minutes after, and then another guy only let a little bit out and completed it. There was 6 guys who did it total. This may sound nasty and it is, but it is a tradition and it brings our community together, For that hour majority of the group stood around to watch the group try to complete this. Sunday we would close out with our last session and then head back south to Troy. I was so glad that Emily got to go and that we made the trip together! Now its back to research paper, presentations, case studies and all that fun stuff!! Hope that you all have a great week!

Taking a break

This past weekend I told myself that I was not going to do school work for two day and take time to enjoy myself. If anyone has talked to me in the past 2 weeks, you know how stresses and busy i have been with school. I usually have 2-3 group meetings everyday and majority every night. So the one night I wouldn't have a group meeting I would use that night to catch up on homework and try to cook my meals for the week. So taking 2 days to myself was needed and amazing! On Friday i didnt have class, so Emily and I went to Montgomery to meet up with Hannah, who was our d-group leader last year. We went to eat at Chicken Salad Chick (which I highly recommend) and it was a great first time experience for me! Then another first was that Emily had never been to GiGi's Cupcakes so we of course made the stop there and then headed back to Troy but made one more stop along the way. We went to Sikes and Kohns which is like a old warehouse that is turned into a huge clothing store! Then made the way home to end it with cooking zucchini pizza boats and watching a movie. Saturday morning i would be up early to get ready for a trip to Auburn! I went to visit AnnaGrace and Mary Slate, who are my closest friends from this summer and who I have stayed in touch with the most! It was a wonderful reunion! We went to a little bagel cafe to start off the morning then went to the state park to Eno (hammocking) which was perfect weather and just beautiful scenery! Then we would go get some Toomers Lemonade and sit on Sanford lawn just relaxing and catching up on everything! It was such a great day to be with those girls and my heart was so full from that time! I hope that you all have a great week and I will be sure to post pictures from this weekends adventure to Tennessee with Campus Outreach! Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34

Slowdown time

Well of course my last semester at Troy, can not be a slow one. The days go by quick and add up to weeks and then into months. I can believe I have been here for a month already and before I know it, another month will be gone. This month is a busy one with group projects being in full swing and then weekends being just as busy. Football is going now and that means home football games my whole day is dedicated to being at the field 4 hours before kick-off for Trojan All-Stars and then to go the game. So this first two weekends of this month will be spent at Veteran Memorial Stadium. Then the following one will be a road trip to Auburn to visit my best friends that I made from project and the last weekend will be spent in Chattanooga for Campus Outreach's Fall Retreat! So a busy month on the weekends and then volunteer hours, group projects, presentations, and many more things to fill up my time during the week. We have started flag-football and that means mom has to hold her breath every time that she knows I have a game. First game I did manage to get a strawberry on my right leg in the usual spot. Oh well. Then also we have started D-groups in full swing. I am so glad that it has started and I am very thankful for the wonderful girls in my group and for our wonderful leader that we have. So I will try to post more at the end of the month or after my Auburn trip! I hope that everyone is doing well and is having a great fall!
