3 week mark

Well I have been gone now for almost 3 weeks and I will be paying a visit to the 850 this weekend to the white beaches for a relaxing weekend! I am excited to see family and friends and to eat some good home cooking. From morning breakfast to steaks to a classic shrimp/crawfish boil! Troy has been treating me pretty good here lately. This week I started a small group bible study with 4 other girls and we are starting with a study on  4 misconceptions to do with religion and other things in relation to it. Things are moving pretty quick and its so crazy. I love the weather here, it is usually only in the 80s and usually has a nice breeze. Walking to and from classes and just looking around and enjoying what God has given me. Not everyone gets this opportunity like I have, and I am doing my best to take advantage of it and make the most of it. The picture tonight is how my roommate Chelsea and I like to relieve stress. Im sure that many of you will get to meet her soon! Or if you ever call me and she is here so will talk to you on the phone more than i will! Hope that all is well!

Just a smile:D

Just a smile to brighten up your day!!!

Two weeks down!

Well it has been a little while since I have last posted! I know that most of you at home right now are busy and some maybe are going crazy with Issac coming possibly towards home! Lets hope that the storm keeps pushing west so all will be well! As i said in my last blog I am so happy to say that Richelle and Adam finally welcomed Brayden William into the world last Tuesday at 6:59 pm! So excited that my little munchkin is finally here and can't wait to see him! This past week was busy with having my first paper due and many other things like that. This week is another big one also, with only 5 days till i will be back in the 850!! I actually went out with a friend last night and we went to a birthday party/hang out for one of her friends. It was a nice place in the town square where 8 guys live in a loft above some of the shops! It was nice to meet some new people and be at a party where there wasn't alcohol either! Many of the people are involved with a group called Campus Outreach Ministry. Which i hope to get involved with this week, but it was good to meet some new people and just hang out. I got asked this week to join a small group bible study within this group and then to be on their intramural flag-football team! Which is anyone remembers that the last time i played flag football was the last time Milton High had powered-puff all because that is when I received my oh so wonderful concussion by my besets friend Katie! lol, so Mom is pretty proud that I joined that team! I am looking forward to the game and meeting new people. This morning my friend Andy and i went to Bush Memorial Baptist Church, where we both enjoyed the atmosphere of it. The college group had a smaller group than the FBC group and the service is a mixture between contemporary and traditional. So it felt a little more like home. We are still going to go around and try and find where we fit in best. I have been told to go to at least 4 different churches. So 2 down and at least 2 more to go. Please keep me in your prayers as i go through this busy week and as I travel back home for the weekend! Like i told a friend this morning Tough times DON'T last, but tough people DO! Hope that you have a great week!

Bon Appétit!

Well on Saturday night I decided i was craving some vegetables for some odd reason so I decided to load up and head out to Wally World to get some vegetables. I had a long list on ones that I wanted and I decided that I would make some stir fry and then sweet potato hash! So i bought me my ingredients and the things i thought i would need and came back home. I ended up buying a vegetable medley stir-fry bag just because it was cheaper and easier to do, and easy on a saturday night at 7pm sounds good to me! So i came back and made myself vegetable stir fry with soy sauce and sesame seeds and the sweet potato hash (was no where as good as Steve Hatches!) And i will say that the food was edible and hit the spot! My roommate even said that it was good! I know when you see the pictures you will be highly impressed just like my mom was! She couldn't believe that it looked so good and i cooked it! Then tonight i didn't know what i was wanting but a salad sounded good. So got my greens with boiled eggs and then some grilled chicken to add on top! I was happy with that once again! If anyone has any simple recipes i am willing to give them a try for sure! Thanks in advance. Hope that all is well wherever you are reading from! I hope that by my next post I will be able to share wonderful news about baby Brayden being here, so keep Richelle in your prayers please! May God bless you<3

Morning Cup of Coffee

Good morning here from Troy, where the sun has been shining everyday unlike in Milton from what I hear! Just brewed me some coffee to start the morning off and get me ready to write!Well I have went through my first "week" of classes you can say. I have been through 3 days worth of classes now and only one that I haven't had yet, Orientation class which is one day a week one. The week has gotten better and busier, thank goodness. I just love every chance I get to just sit around and watch tv and lay on the couch, NOT. Yesterday was my busiest day. After two classes I met up with a girl who we share a mutual friend. She is on staff here at Troy for the Campus Outreach Program. We talked about how we knew our friend and then we talked about what the program does! She has gotten me very excited to see what the program is all about and to get involved with it! Then I went to my first Troy sporting event, Womans Soccer game, which they came back after the half to take the lead and hold on to win 5-3 against Alabama State! Got to relax at the pool for a little bit and then the roommate cooked some Alfredo and I had a friend over and we watched Redbox. Then there was a concert on campus by the Skyler Foster band. Which they are not that bad of a group, playing mostly country music, Blake Shelton,Luke Bryan, Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, and some others. Nice way to end the night! On Thursday night we went to the apartment clubhouse and played Grocery Bingo! Where Chelsea won is a Brita Water filter pitcher and then we won another food bundle of Roman Noodles, Pringles, Star Crunch, and Mac-n-Cheese! Hope that you have a great weekend! Smile, it irritates those who don't want to see it:D
The Lady Trojans take on Alabama State, in a 5-3 victory. The building in the background is the new Arena, ribbon cutting to be on Sept.8! Big step for Troy!

Two down, one to go!

So I have went to my first two classes as being a Troy University Student! I started my day off with a 9am class located in the football stadium! Where my teacher told us if we are to get caught with cell phones he will call us out, tell us to stand up and sing Jingle Bells! haha shoot at PJC you would be texting the person beside you! The classes today feel very short since they are 3 days a week they are only 50minutes long, instead of like my 2 day a week ones for 75 minutes. My second class started 10 minutes after my first one so i have to hurry down 3 flights of stairs in the stadium to walk across the way to my next class. I made it there and with 3 minutes to spare this morning! After the two I met up with one roommate and other guy and went to the BCM for a FREE lunch. Everyone should know that free food and college students work very well together! So got to hang around there for a little bit and met a few people. but hopefully over the next few weeks I will meet some more people that I can hang out with. Still got one more lab to go to tonight for 3 hours!Wahoo to that. Here are a few photos from today! Rocking the new Vera back pack, and it was just such a beautiful day on the quad. Sorry PJC you can't be a real college till you have one of these:)

Hope that you have had a wonderful day. Smile right now, it may do you some good and you never know who may need a smile or a big hug today! And if you are in need of a hug, just close your eyes and think about me being with you and giving you a BIG hug:) lots of love from Troy<3

First Day in my town....

Go Trojans!

Well I have officially survived my first day of life on my own. My adventure leaving Milton was harder than I truly thought it would ever be. I guess since I had so much time and many other things invested in Milton it made it a little harder to say see you later. The fact that I knew my way around everywhere, all the little back roads, and then because I am a Drinkard also meant that I knew/was related to many people in Milton. And now that I am in Troy I am having to learn all the little backroads(getting little better everyday!) and then meet new people! Coming into the new city and all I only truly know 3 people and that is like i "know" them. So having to branch out and spread my wings a little more! But there is a few things that I have been keeping me going:
I have brought a little bit of Milton with me, as it is some of my good-bye cards and then some pictures of some wonderful memories(which Jennifer you need to post the ones from work:) When I got a little homesick I just remember all the wonderful people I know at home and especially all the ones that believe in me. I received some surprise text and phone calls from a few people today that brought tears to my eyes but they made these blue eyes smile big. It was a rough start to my morning but praise God that he is a God of comfort and peace. No one knows how to calm a storm like He can. Im so grateful that I can serve a God who does that for me, and that He guides others to help me. Two verses that I received via text were Psalm 18:1-2 and Deuteronomy 31:6. Coming from two people who I respect very much and appreciate so many ways. Sunshine is going to be fine!(you know who you are-Blues eyes) If any of you are missing me remember this quote one that I have taken to heart over the years: Don't cry because its over, Smile because it happened<3
Have a blessed day!!

Move In!

Well this past Tuesday, I made the 126 mile drive and went to move into my apartment in Troy. The countdown is getting smaller and smaller. Sunday I will make the drive and not be coming back for at least 3 weeks. On Wednesday I will start my first day of class starting at 9 in the morning. More things to come with that! But for this post I will share the place that I will call my home for the next 8 to 9 months. I still have to add some pictures and my roommate Chelsea said that we can have a craft night to make some more things to go in! I have an actual Troy address so let me know if you would like it:)

The best location i could ask for, My room is located right beside the pool, clubhouse, and fitness area.
Make your way into my new home!
As you come through the door you enter through the kitchen and then into the living room.
Come and enter to my room!

the bed and the the door with my scarfs on it leads into the bathroom and the other is my closet!

My bathroom, biggest out of the three in my apartment! Score!!

Then you have my walk in closet and then my desk.
You know know what my room and living area is like in good ole Troy. Things are speeding up and this will be my home in just a few days. Hope that you enjoyed the tour of Mikey's apartment!

My Co-workers>>>>

My Co-workers are like none other. They have made me laugh and cry at the same time. They have taught me many things. I remember my first day of work when Brenda showed me around, Tammy Jo took me on my first Judge Runs, where Suzy asked how old I was and the name Little Bit was started! Besides filing checking the Child Support dockets was something that I first got to do. Every person that I came into contact at work made an impact on my life and I am grateful for all of the memories. There are so many of them! Pam make sure to get all the credit cards in by 4, Tammy Jo you better keep laughing at random moments. Janice keep rocking those heels, but don't trip on the carpet! Elaine, mother to us all try and keep the group from staying out of too much trouble! And keep on baking all those sweets! Melissa, try and keep Brenda straight over there and don't have to many energy shots! Carol try and keep Tammy in line with child support and keep the coffee going. Brenda, keep up all the hard work and don't be slacking! i know you won't, try and keep DA in line:) Jennifer, remember you only have to do the reports once a month so for a few days they will give you headaches but you will get through it! And you can't go wrong with shrimp fried rice and egg rolls! Richelle if you ever pop out baby Brayden, don't forget to get the money box and don't be the number one slacker there. It sure is quiet with out you there, spelling Arkansas! Who knows me and you could be back around the same time! lol I hope that you will be back long before then. Kathie, keep holding down the whole clerks office, they would fall apart with all of your knowledge! You just have so much information in that brian!

Thank you all for my wonderful goodies:

I have been so blessed to work with each and every one of y'all. The courthouse will always be a stop on my way home every time i come home. i could never forget any of y'all and i hope to stay in touch!
Ill be back behind the counter in December!
