Beauty not hidden

Everytime I step on the campus of Troy I am reminded of the beauty that it contains. Now seeing it with snow, I just am in awe of how it looks. It is like that cherry on top! I woke up this morning to meet a friend and walk to campus and watch the sunrise. I wanted to see what it looked like before it was filled with students and to get pictures and try to catch the beauty of it. Indescribable is truly what it is, You arent supposed to see snow around here this time of year and especially not 3in! The roads are EXTREMELY icy, its like a layer of ice then layer of snow and another layer of ice. People on campus were not prepared for food, because no one would have thought that almost all food places on campus would be closed and also running out of food! Thankful to have an apartment where I can cook for myself and others. Had breakfast with the gang this morning and to celebrate Emilys birthday. Monkey bread, cinnamon rolls, muffins and coffee were on the menu! The day isnt even over with. The weekend was just overflowing with all the blessings that I have here at Troy. And didnt think that the weekend would continue but these two snow days and possibly more have just been refreshing. I can not stay cooped up in my apartment that is for sure, i just go stir crazy and always moving. So we will see what adventures i can come up with! Enjoy these pictures and hope you see the beauty that i see in them!

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman

Well through text messages and twitter alerts as of 6:30 tonight University cancelled classes for the next two days! This is like a HUGE weekend for me basically since I just had one and only had class today for 20 minutes! And then only classes on Thursday and Friday, which Friday I only have one for 50min! So this will be interesting! I am excited but not at the same time. I am trying to not get my hopes up too much that it will snow and then maybe it will! It would be soo much fun to be with all my friends and have snowball fights and just enjoy our "southern blizzard" in Troy! Wednesday I am going to cook breakfast for some of the girls that live in the same apartment complex as me and just enjoy the chance of snow being on the ground then! Who knows we may not even sleep because we will be watching snow fall and playing in it!! I think this is the perfect FROZEN moment! If you have not seen the movie you may not understand, but let me say the movie is awesome! Such a great one to take the kids to, Disney outdid themselves on it for sure! I went and saw it two times!! Well be sure to check back soon and see what the Winter Blizzard leaves here in Troy this week!!!

Do you wanna build a snowman?
Or ride our bikes around the halls
I think some company is overdue!

Blessed Weekend

What a busy but blessed weekend. Started it off on Friday by leaving around lunch for Atlanta, to get a facility tour of the Phillips Arena and then to watch the Spurs vs Hawks game! It was a long dayyy but it was worth it to be with some friends! Then Saturday got up and went to Montgomery for majority of the day for Ice Skating!! It was such a random group, but it was great! Loved to hang out and to just get to know some people more. Then we went to do Karaoke at a bar-b-que shed basically! It was a little sketchy but when our whole group got there it was a blast!! This weekend was a great one and just was one blessing after another! These are the ones that make me smile!!

Killin and Grillin

The last month of hunting season is here and it is almost up. Still waiting to get Bambis daddy sometime soon! But had to keep my stock of meat up to date so last week I got me a doe while I was in town, so I now at least have meat!! Hunting has always been a thing for me and dad. Something that we have done since I remember I was in 4th grade. I remember the christmas I got my first gun and being all excited and shooting my first deer and getting the blood on me! There are many memories that I have made with dad and this is now our thing. Mom just went to ride with him out there this year for the first time and refuses to go actual hunting and Caleigh, well she killed one this year but its a one and done kind of thing. This picture was from like my Freshmen year in high school which seems like ages now! Wow i am getting old!! But i don't regret any of these hunting trips, because even if we never saw one deer, which happens very often, we still have the many memories that will last much longer than the deer meat or the woods!

Why are the deer always there when I'm not?

Late Night Craft

Well one of my friends that I have grown close to since August she is a fan of GLITTER and SPARKLE so I saw this idea on Pinterest and got the urge to make it for her. Now remember I am not the most artistic person, I did not receive any type of any musical or artistic ability from either side of my family!

New Recipes!

Well new year so new things right? Well with some favorite gifts from Christmas  were my wonderful Crockpot, and cookbooks, I have made a goal to try and cook a new recipe one day every week of the year! So far I have two new ones in the two weeks I have been back! Chicken breasts with green beans, potatoes, and squash and then the other one is crockpot with chicken breasts with cream cheese, corn, black beans, and rotel. They were both successful and am excited to try and keep this up!!!

New Semester

Its really strange to think that I have already had Christmas break and am in my 4th semester at Troy. I can remember the ugly first day last year and feel truly blessed to be where I am today. I sit here this morning drinking coffee and ready for class and just reflect on all that God has blessed me with here. Coming to Troy I never did go visit any other campuses or anything, just after a family reunion I stopped by the campus and thought this is beautiful. And now I will receive my degree from this place I have come to call home. All though I don't have family and friends from home, I feel like the people here and many other things make it seem like home. I have my own apartment with two other girls and its mine. I have an address where I reside and its under my name. I always just smile when I think about it. Over Christmas I was homesick for Troy but most of all my Troy family. I have grown close to many people over these few years here and they will be some of the greatest friendships I have. Thats enough with my sappy story I will save more for later. Last Friday for the first weekend back I decided to have a girls night with some of the girls I know and some I had just met. We partied hard, I mean High School Musical, Cupcakes with oreos on the bottom, and hamburger cheese dip (meat from our cow). The best part is that I can tell the stories and memories from that night. You don't need alcohol or anything else that is going to possibly forget what happened to have a fun night. Its the small things. Today its back to a cold day. Not as cold as two weeks ago when the wind chill was 4! Crazyyy how close I am to home but the weather is so different! I am going to try an update again soon, many things are starting to go on! Have to get to my yoga class!

Random Adventures

On the way home from Chattanooga Emily rode back with me to Crestview. Along the way we were talking about how we always love our drive because of the cotton fields we get to see and we were disappointed that this year it seemed like they were all cut early. Then we both just happened to look over and see a cotton field that still had some! So we pulled down a road and borrowed Farmer Joe's field to have a photo shoot!
Katy turned 21 while I was home and for her birthday we went to The Dot Shop in Pace and painted door hangers. Now if you know me, then you know that I am not artistic at all. Thank goodness the people there are willing to touch up my "straight lines" write my initial and then add the bow! With service like that you can't really go wrong!

NYC-Chattanooga Bound!

After Christmas I loaded up my car and drove up to Troy for the night, before meeting 3 girls on Saturday to make the drive to Chattanooga,Tennessee for New Years Conference with the Campus Outreach from Troy and 25 other schools! We stayed in downtown Chattanooga and had a blast!! We were there till New Years day and I was so thankful to ring in the new year with some of my closest friends! It was a great time with all the rallys, workshops, and just being with all my Troy friends. On Monday we had a free day so some of us went to adventure through out downtown! We stumbled upon a collective bookstore where they just had tons and tons of books of all sorts of things. I found a Reference Bible from 1938 and got it for $8! It is very neat that the man who owned it wrote in it and everytime he read through it, he would check mark by each chapter. So im thinking about collecting old bibles now. Then we just went to other different places and that afternoon we went to the aquarium! it was a blast as always! I will say by the end I was ready for my bed and sleep! After I made the 8 hour drive home that is what I still think to this day im not caught up on!
