Race Ready!

This semester for my major I had to take a class called Event Management. We get practical experince by raising sponsorship money or getting donations for the class. This class puts on 3 events: Charity Golf Tournament, Children's Health Field Day, and then the Nick Costes 5k/10k. There are Event Operations committee, Hospitality committee and then awards committee. I was on the Event Ops committee for the race and I was so blessed by the experience. There was 8 of us on our team and I dont say this because it was my committee, but I truly think that we had the best hard working group all together. Most committees had only one or two that would be hard working and ours went over and beyond our committees duties and helped with others. The race number have been down in the past and we wanted to try and revamp it. Well we partnered with a chip timing company in Montgomery and then the National Guard was a main sponsor. They went over and beyond for their part. They sponsored breakfast which was Panera Bread bagels, chicfila biscuits and then water and fruit. Then we did autographed balls by various sport teams at Troy for awards and then footballs signed by Coach Larry Blakney and some by former players who are in the NFL. We had tonsss of door prizses where I think that everyone left with atleast one if not more. There were stressful times but I am glad that I had the experience to put on this event. It has given me practical experience of how they are put on and I can now say that i have put one on. Our committee became close to one another as not many of us even knew the others. I am very thankful for the opportunity and the friendships that I have created!

Blessed Beyond Measure

Well I have made some decisions over the past few months and one is the decision to go to Summer Beach Project with Campus Outreach. From the people who have went before they use two words to describe it: Life Changing. I am super excited for it and have already seen God's faithfulness in the support raising process. The total cost for the summer is $1400. I will be living in a motel with other girls from Troy and Samford from May 28-July 28. We as a room will go out and look for a job, CO has business that in advance say that they will hire the students. So throughout the summer we will minister to our co workers and then also be discipled along the way. We will have rally's through out the week, group dates with different themes, one on ones with other students and just enjoy life in Fort Walton together. I don't think that there is any other way I would want to spend my last summer than with my friends from Troy and new friends I will make. I have received support financially from a few people and just am overwhelmed with the checks that have came in. The letters that people have wrote just make me smile. The faith that some have for me this summer is truly amazing. I know that it is going to be life changing, but along the way it may get tough at sometimes and just knowing that I am going to grow in Christ and with others is going to be great. I am a little anxious about it and what it is gonna be like, but I know that his is where God wants me to be! So if you would please support me in prayer if anything. I am going to try and provide updates on the blog through out the whole project!
