Its T Time!

This fall I was blessed to be apart of a group on campus called Trojan All-Stars. This is a group of girls who applied and then interviewed to work with Troy Football and their recruits that are at the games every weekend. The schedule changed throughout the season, but basically we were in charge of giving tours in the Stadium Tower, the various floors that are located within, lunch, highlight films, speaking from Coach Blakeney/ Athletic Director John Hartwell, and then they were taken onto the field to watch pre-game warm ups. We would also decorate the locker room some games, make candy goody bags and then made Senior Baskets also. I am thankful for the friendships that we made, and that grew from this experience and am thankful to have the opportunity to attend such a wonderful university.There is not any other place I would want to be! I can't believe that we only have one more game left this season. But I am excited to be able to cheer on my Trojans and especially the senior boys that I have gotten close to over the past 3 years!

Champions!

This weekend 9 girls and one coach would travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to compete in Regional Flag-Football Tournament. Friday afternoon we loaded up the cars and headed there looking only to bring home the hardware! Two months ago we sat in a classroom and talked about this tournament and had a few girls drop and then spent many nights practicing. Over those two months a special team was created and one that would do whatever it took to win it all. Playing in 27 degree weather Saturday and layered up all day. 
We would manage bumps, bruises, black eyes, concussions, but we wanted it all that bad. And with that much want, we bought it all home! Going undefeated and only giving up 19 points, we won Regionals! It was a great feeling and one that has yet to wear off from any of us. So now we get to move on to Nationals Jan.2-3, in Pensacola! The funny thing is that 7 out of 9 girls are from Florida with 4 of us from the Milton/Pace area. So its going to be home turf for us. It was certainly one weekend of laughter, sweat, coldness, and sweet victory. The best part is that it is not over yet! Im blessed to have been chosen for this team and to have the ability and health to play this game that I love and not have any serious injuries from it so far. "Offense wins games, while Defense wins Championships!"

You can't just beat a team, you have to leave a lasting impression in their minds so they never want to see you again!

Checkmarks

Well last week I was able to do some checkoffs on my semester to-do list that I made for all of my classes. It has been a stressful two weeks, but these checks were some relievers! Our Senior Seminar class is all about incorporating the things we have learned and to prepare up for the future. We start by having to create a sports business and try to sell it, so basically like a real life version of the show Shark Tank. Our group decided to do a Juniors Volleyball Club, we decided it would be based out of Auburn, Alabama. We would have to go into great detail about what our organization is and what we want it to be, the actual facility location, our budget with great detail of revenues and expenses. This was a two month process that would take long hours and a 72 page business plan along with an intense presentation to the "bankers" we wanted to help get a loan from. The hard work was shown in the presentation. Now to do a phone interview and a face to face interview and that class will be finished! The days are winding down and hard to believe that I am almost finished at Troy!

Savages!

Well I have now completed my final season for intramural flag-football. It was a good season that has left me with so many memories,friends and bruises! But i would not trade one minute or trade to be on any other team this year. I enjoyed getting to know and play with many different girls and then have 2 wonderful coaches. I am not completely done yet with my flag-football career, as in a few weeks I will be traveling to Tennessee with 12 other girls to compete in a regional tournament! This semester has been a very busy one, but thankful that i had this team as an outlet and was able to take some time away from my stress and go and play. Count your blessings today and give God all the praises for the big and small ones He has given us!

We Will Always Cheer for Victory!

It may have took Troy 6 weeks to get their first victory of the season! But it was a good one and it felt good to get a win and it be a conference win! This past Sunday announcement was made that Larry Blakeney our head coach, would coach his final season this year and retire at the end of the season. He has coached at Troy for 24 years! So this is not an easy decision for him at all. So the search for a new head coach is under way and by Dec 1. or Dec 15. for sure Troy will announce a new coach. So hopefully this will fuel the guys and light a spark for them to play for him and turn in some wins these next few games! Today was our Homecoming game and that just made the victory even sweeter! It was a long and HOT afternoon for sure!! I got sunburned and even have a tanline from my necklace! haha proud! But it was all worth it when I saw the players faces and Coach Blakeney as they shook the students hands after the game!

What graduation?

Well its official i just filed my intent to graduate. May 8, 2014 I will officially be a Troy University Alumni, the 3rd one in the family. This does not seem like it should be happening at all! Its crazy to think about, but i know that God has a great plan for me and ready or not its all about to happen! Prayers as I still continue to finish this last semester and then my internship!
